With her extensive experience in delivering body contouring surgery, liposuction and laser-asssisted lipo sculpting, Margaret Strick was convinced by the possibilities of the new radio frequency assisted lipo tightening. BodyTite is the first and only (RFAL) treatment on the market. Results have exeeded our expectations and are impressive compared to other skin-tightening techniques available in the UK.
A first for Scotland and only available through CAER at BMI Carrick Glen Hospital in Ayrshire, the BodyTite system provides an effective way of removing stubborn areas of excess fat, simultaneously re-contouring and firming the body. The combined treatment of radio Frequency Assisted Lipo technology places the technique ahead of conventional liposuction and various forms of laser assisted liposuction.
We all have our names for these stubborn bits, Mummy tummies (the flabby skin and fat which persist even through the rest of you is back in shape), bingo wings (those impossible loose areas of the upper arm); turkey necks, love handles, muffin tops, saddle bags - the list continues.
CAER Plastic Surgery has brought the first BodyTite Machine to Scotland. Already popular for some time in Canada, Australia and Israel, BodyTite is relatively new to the UK.
BodyTite uses an advanced technology called RFAL (Radio Frequency Assisted Lipo Tightening) to offer a gentle and sophisticated contouring solution. Using controlled RF waves, your BodyTite surgeon heats beneath the skin surface to a temperature just above normal body temperature. This causes the collagen fibres in the skin to contract – and it is the collagen fibres which give the skin its support and ability to recontour after being stretched.
The tightening effect continues in the months following the BodyTite procedure, improving the results as the collagen continues to contract.
The state-of the art control offered by BodyTite allows for its other great advantages: it can easily be performed under local anaesthetic, which means that there is minimal recovery time and the potential to walk out of hospital within a few hours of your procedure. Unlike conventional liposuction, there is also minimal bruising. Scarring is generally insignificant, as BodyTite only requires a tiny 5mm incision per area. Safety features are built into the devices, although as with all surgery there are some risks which must be considered. Treatment cannot go ahead without a full consultation with your surgeon.
BodyTite is ideal for many treatment areas with excess skin and fat including: abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, arms, knees and neck.
How BodyTite works:
The BodyTite handpiece consists of a canula which is inserted just below the skin through a 5mm incision. An external electrode on the surface of the skin precisely guides and directs focused RFAL energy into fatty areas beneath the skin. The precision of the handpiece allows for targeted gentle heating of fat (to slightly above body temperature) controlling the risk of thermal injury to surrounding tissue. The canula removes the fat from the body.
BodyTite’s innovative handpiece allows for a one-step procedure providing a quicker treatment, at least four times faster than other laser assisted devices. The gentle pre-heating of the fat tissue means that fat removal is a far less traumatic process, and recovery time, bruising and swelling are all reduced. Precisely controlled heat will stimulate the skin and soft tissue to contract and tighten.
Patients will see substantial fat reduction and body firming results. The precision of the BodyTite handpiece allows for much smoother contouring than conventional liposuction. The skin tightening means that an excisional procedure which can be required after liposuction is not needed.
Results are individual and will vary from patient to patient. Patients will see immediate results from the extraction of the excess fat tissue. Skin firming and contour tightening will continue with these improvements becoming obvious from 6 to 12 weeks following the procedure.
Invasix, developers of BodyTite and RFAL technology, have undertaken rigorous safety evaluations at state-of-the-art investigator sites, performed by respected and industry leading plastic surgeons. International feedback from clinical trials data have been monitored and analysed by their research and development team. BodyTite has ISO certification and CE approval and is approved in Canada, Europe and Australia.
Clinical Benefits of BodyTite
- Superior body contouring without the need for excisional procedures or the lumpy irregular appearance caused by liposuction.
- Skin contraction of the entire subcutaneous tissue and septae matrix for unprecedented contraction results.
- Controlled directional energy distribution maximizes RF utilization in the treated area.
- Improved safety with system safeguards that regulate skin temperature and impedance levels to decrease risks of thermal injuries.
- Avoid anaesthesia: By avoiding general anaesthesia, patients avoid traditional liposuction anaesthesia risks.
- Decreased patient downtime through the pre-heating of the treatment area allowing gentle extraction of unwanted fat, resulting in decreased bruising and swelling
